SWIFT CURRENT, Saskatchewan — With its tenth anniversary just around the corner in December, Living Sky Casino is excited to welcome the Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) and its competitors to Swift Current this week.
The CCA Finals takes place in Swift Current from October 17-20, and will see more than 100 of the Associations best competitors take to the iPlex aiming for championships.
And without partners like Living Sky Casino, these events are simply not possible.
'Living Sky Casino is a good fit with rodeo as we are both in the entertainment industry,' said Living Sky's Damone Caron.
'It allows a variety of options to local patrons and visitors to enjoy the heart pounding excitement of the rodeo and then come to the Casino to enjoy free entertainment and hospitality.'
The Finals will be awarding event championship as well as the year end champion in 12 different events. And of those events, Caron says he enjoys the saddle bronc riding.
'Lots of fast moving action and athleticism on the part of the cowboy and the animal (in the saddle bronc riding),' said Caron.
'The level of competition is fantastic and (your) attendance will be rewarded with first rate entertainment. Well worth the time they take out of their everyday.'
While the event itself is the hallmark of this week in Swift Current, Living Sky is offering those in town many great entertainment and meal options, including country music recording group Nice Horse all week long.
'We have a number of promotions for the contestants and general public. We have the band Nice Horse performing live on our lounge stage nightly for the entirety of the event,' Caron said.
'We also have many offers with free slot play and food deals. Those staying in our local hotels should ask the front desk agent for the Stay, Play & Dine offer. Our Horizons Restaurant is also open for extended hours, beginning at 9am daily with a Cowboy's Breakfast.
'A good time will be had by those that choose to come to the Casino.'

The Canadian Cowboys Association Finals in Swift Current later this month will be in its sophomore year in that community, but says without the support of some of the local businesses, the event would not be possible.
Living Sky Casino has been a staple of the Swift Current community for the last nine years, and instead of simply being a supporter of the event the folks at Living Sky Casino are hosting an event supporting the competitors and their families October 18 as well as bringing big names in country music to town.
'If you did not get a chance to see the CCA's last year, make it apart of this year's plans. If you're not a rodeo person and want to learn more about what it all means, then please attend one of the rodeo 101 sessions. You will learn a lot from them, we certainly did,' said Trevor Marion, General Manager of Living Sky Casino.
'On Wednesday, October 18th, Living Sky Casino will be hosting an appreciation night for all of the contestants and their families in the Event Centre. Visitors can enjoy free food and entertainment from 10pm to midnight. Our management and staff would like to show our appreciation for what they do and to thank them for coming to Swift Current. At the same time, we will have various activities in the casino, for those 19 years and older. Also, the entertainment during the CCA's will be country recording artist Julian Austin – come by and have a listen.'
Marion added that the Rodeo 101 event itself is a massive value for not only the event, but the community as a whole.

'Not only is the CCA Rodeo Finals a competition, but it also it is educational. The CCA team provides rodeo 101 sessions during the day for our school children and local community an opportunity to learn all about the rodeo and treatment of the animals involved. The CCA Finals are October 18-21, 2017 at the iPlex, and Marion said last year's event was exciting, and even found a handful of his employees participating as volunteers for the event.
'The staff all had a great time, whether it was assisting at the event, being a spectator or hosting the contestants here at the casino,' he said.
'The CCA organizers and committees are great to work with and like I said previously, it was a fun week.'
